Fundación CARTIF is a leading Spanish Applied Research Centre in terms of R&D and technology transfer activities, created in 1994 formed up by some 150 researchers.

CARTIF participation in international activities is promoted through the International Projects Department and has been materialised in the participation in 47 on-going international projects, including 20 projects from H2020 (4 of them coordinated) and 10 LIFE Projects (4 of them coordinated).

CARTIF coordinates the following 3 H2020 Smart Cities projects: MAKING-CITY “Energy efficient pathway for the city transformation: enabling a positive future” (www.makingcity.eu), mySMARTLife “Smart Transition of EU cities towards a new concept of smart Life and Economy” (www.mysmartlife.eu) and REMOURBAN “REgenerationMOdel for accelerating the smart URBAN transformation” (www.remourban.eu). Also CARTIF takes part as a partner in two H2020 Projects SmartEnCity “Towards Smart Zero CO2 Cities across Europe” and MatchUP “Maximizing the Upscaling and replication potential of high level urban transformation strategies”. Other Smart Cities FP7 Projects coordinated by CARTIF were: CITyFiED “RepliCable and InnovaTive Future Efficient Districts and cities” and R2CITIES “Renovation of Residential urban spaces: towards nearly zero energy CITIES”.

CARTIF is the Spanish National Liaison Point of the European E2BA (Energy Efficient Buildings Association). Additionally, CARTIF is one of the founding members and main promoters of the Smart City VyP initiative carried out in the Spanish cities of Valladolid and Palencia (www.smartcity-vyp.com).
